Illusionist Mike Super is coming to Lynchburg! Mike is one of the most well-known names in today’s roster of stage-performing magicians. He has made Ellen DeGeneres appear out of thin air, won a live illusion contest on NBC’s “Phenomenon” (the only magician to ever do so) and has appeared on Penn and Teller’s “Fool Us”. He will be performing onstage at the Academy Center of the Arts on January 24.
If you’ve been looking for a family-friendly show that will surprise and delight and cause you to laugh yourself silly, look no further than Mike Super. He’s being hailed “the next Dane Cook” and has been praised by world-renowned magician Criss Angel himself. But it’s not just his accolades that set him apart.
Mike Super knows how to engage with his audience on a personal level. As a quintessential entertainer and performer, Super knows what makes his audiences tick. He leads them through different emotions in his show using a combination of his winning personality and stories from his personal life. From fear to astonishment to skepticism to awe, along with a healthy helping of humor, Mike’s show will have you on the edge of your seat and wondering “how did he do that?”.
This show will not be over until Mike has thoroughly proven his prowess. For his final trick, he will reveal his prediction for the headline of the News & Advance newspaper on January 24— which he has already guessed.
On December 13, three companies took part in preparing the prediction for Mike’s show: Bank of the James, Campbell Insurance and BWXT. Two members of BWXT’s police security force escorted the envelope containing the recorded prediction to the vault at Bank of the James, where Campbell Insurance signed a contract attesting to the authenticity and security of the envelope-sealed prediction. From there, it was locked in the Bank of the James vault, where it will remain until the day of Mike’s show. Onstage, Mike will reveal his prediction to the audience, and if it’s wrong, he will personally refund all advance ticket sales. This is a show you won’t want to miss.
We at Bank of the James want the people of Lynchburg to be able to enjoy this and any other quality arts and entertainment productions. That’s why we support the Academy Center of the Arts, and why we are one of three companies, along with the aforementioned BWXT and Campbell insurance, who are sponsoring this show.
So come on out to the Academy Center of the Arts on January 24 for a night of incredible and mystifying entertainment. Tickets are on sale now at the Academy Center of the Arts website. We hope to see you there!
