Jennifer Holdaway is nothing short of amazing. When I found the house I wanted to buy I needed everything to go very quickly. I emailed four different lenders on Columbus Day, a normal bank holiday, and Jennifer was the first one of only two that even replied. What makes it more amazing was that she was off of work and caring for a sick friend. Within three email exchanges I knew she was going to be my lender. She replied quickly with all the information I needed every single time-day 1 to closing. She had every bit of information that I needed, answered every question that I had, and really put the work in to make sure that this entire process, contract to closing, was quick and smooth. The very best thing was that I walked away with a new friend, not just a face and a name, and she was just as excited as me!!! Deciding to buy a home my wife and I knew absolutely nothing about it. A few people recommend Jennifer Holdaway at the Bank of the James, so we gave her a call. We had a ton of questions, which she happily answered, and in a way that was easy to understand. So we filled out an application and went for it. In a few hours we knew what we could afford and roughly what the payments would be depending on how much we spent. This was all at like 9:30 pm. Most people quit at 5, not Jennifer. Didn't matter what time of day, she answered our emails and texts. Anyway it took roughly 60 days to find a home and close, and she explained every step, every process, the entire time. I would highly recommend her at The Bank of the James. We are so grateful for all her help and everything she's done.

I do not know exactly where to start with this review so work with me as I try to illustrate how great our experience was using Bank of the James. Buying a home 600 miles away during a Pandemic we knew at the beginning would be tough. Houses flying off the market day by day. Also, the tough process of viewing homes virtually took a lot of time and changed the overall experience. One thing we didn't have concerns with was Bank of James Mortgage and Heather Nipper. We had intentions of keeping our buying power local and Heather went above and beyond to support us although she was also 600 miles away. I highly recommend using Heather to anyone looking to buy a home. Rates were amazing, approval process was easy and literally everything was handled digitally, which my wife and I loved. We put in offers on several homes and Heather was always there updating our approval amount within hours.
